The Woody Mac Corral was a well known restaurant in the Shoals area where the teens would hang out. It was also the place where a young Elvis would bring a date and order burnt bacon sandwiches after his Sheffield performances during the mid 50s. The restaurant no longer exists but you can imagine the mayhem amongst the teens when he strolled into town in a Cadillac.

There’s a snapshot of this history written in a book by Caroline Cahoon-Hauser’s about her encounters with the young Elvis Presley, whom she met at one of the Sheffield concerts. The book How ’bout A Date?: Encounters with the young Elvis offers a rare glimpse into Elvis’ early life and Caroline’s connection with him.
