The 18-foot tall Sheffield sculpture is one of four “city sculptures” that are a part of a plan to erect a total of 11 monumentally-scaled sculptures in the Muscle Shoals area of Alabama, each honoring the area’s legendary music heritage. In addition to the 4 city sculptures, this civic art project will ultimately include 7 even larger sculptures arranged in a waterfront garden setting in Florence’s Veterans Park. The Sheffield sculpture depicts a rock-a-billy musician with his guitar, someone who might have performed here during the heyday of the Muscle Shoals sound. It represents no particular musician. The artwork is semi-abstract in style. Content © Copyright Singing River Sculptures.
